Camcorder reviews
A DVD camcorder records directly on a DVD. A prime example is the Samsung SCL906 Hi8 Camcorder . It is a single CCD camcorder with Sony's proprietary advanced HAD CCD imager. It has a humongous 40x optical zoom with image stabilization. The preview LCD is a 2.5 inch touch panel and can write to a host of DVD formats including: DVD: -R -RW +RW.
My choices in the entry level segment are the Panasonic PV-GS320 3.1MP 3CCD MiniDV Camcorder with 10x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and the Canon ZR850 1MP MiniDV Camcorder with 35x Optical Zoom . The Aiptek is something I have heard a lot about. It is a cheap camcorder with a 3MP CMOS sensor and can enhance it to a 6MP resolution. It records in the MPEG 4 format. It about $30, it packs a punch for it's price. The Flip is also a budget level camcorder so to speak. It looks like a camera with a flip out preview LCD. It has a built in 1GB flash memory that enables one to record upto 60 min of video. This is on par for this segment.
My favorites in the prosumer segment are Sony DCR-TRV280 Digital8 Handycam Camcorder w/20x Optical Zoom and Canon ZR100 MiniDV Camcorder w/20x Optical Zoom (Pearl Silver) . The Panasonic is a 3CCD camcorder. It has a Charged Coupled Device for every color, i.e. Red, Green and Blue. Though it offers just a 10x zoom, it offers phenomenal picture quality. The JVC Everio is a HDD based camcorder. This means that it has a 30GB Hard Disk Drive stashed in it's body. It has a whopping 30x optical zoom and also has a SD card slot if you need more memory.
This concludes my review of some of the popular camcorders on the net. You might also want to check out Expo TV's site for more reviews and best price comparisons.

Life Is Beautiful
CHERISH- Once being the most sought after word, now it has descended to the stage where children grow up without knowing its meaning. In this fast paced world and era of nanotization we don't have time even to pause for a second and thank someone for what we have got. when i thought i could do it and search the meaning for this word in the dictionary of my memories, i ended up writing this.....
Now, think and try to answer these questions:
1 – Name the 5 richest people in the world.
2 – Name the last 5 Miss Universe winners.
3– Name the last 10 Nobel Prize winners.
4 – Name the last 10 winners of the Best Actor Oscar.
Can’t do it? Rather difficult, isn’t it?
Don’t worry, nobody remembers that.
Applause dies away!
Trophies gather dust!
Winners are soon forgotten.
Now answer these questions:
1 – Name 3 teachers who contributed to your education.
2 – Name 3 friends who helped you in your hour of need.
3 – Think of a few people who made you feel special.
4 – Name 5 people that you like to spend time with.
More manageable? It’s easier, isn’t it?
The people who mean something to your life are not rated “the best”, don’t have the most money, haven’t won the greatest prizes…
They are the ones who care about you, take care of you, those who, no matter what, stay close by.
Think about it for a moment.
Life is very short!
And you, in which list are you? Don’t know?
Let me give you a hand.
You are not among the most “famous”, but among those who have come 2 visit me....
Some time ago, at the Seattle Olympics, nine athletes, all mentally or physically challenged, were standing on the start line for the 100 m race. The gun fired and the race began. Not everyone was running, but everyone wanted to participate and win.
They ran in threes, a boy tripped and fell, did a few somersaults and started crying.
The other eight heard him crying.
They slowed down and looked behind them.
They stopped and came back… All of them…
A girl with Down’s Syndrome sat down next to him, hugged him and asked, “Feeling better now?”Then, all nine walked shoulder to shoulder to the finish line.
The whole crowd stood up and applauded. And the applause lasted a very long time…
People who witnessed this still talk about it.
Why?
Because deep down inside us, we all know that the most important thing in life is much more than winning for ourselves.
The most important thing in this life is to help others to win. Even if that means slowing down and changing our own race.
If you share this blog with others, perhaps we will succeed in changing our heart, perhaps someone else’s heart, as well…
"A candle loses nothing if it is used to light another one.”
If you want happiness….
For an hour--- take a nap
For a day--- go fishing
For a month----get married
For a year---inherit a fortune
For many years---love someone
For a lifetime---help someone…
Pursuit Of Happyness
Then we get frustrated because our children are not old enough, and that all will be well when they are older.
Then we are frustrated because they reach adolescence and we must deal with them. Surely we’ll be happier when they grow out of the teen years.
We tell ourselves our life will be better when our spouse gets his/her act together, when we have a nicer car, when we can take a vacation, when we finally retire.
The truth is that there is no better time to be happy than right now.
If not, then when?
Your life will always be full of challenges. It is better to admit as much and to decide to be happy in spite of it all.
For the longest time, it seemed that life was about to start. Real life. But there was always some obstacle along the way, an ordeal to get through, some work to be finished, some time to be given, a bill to be paid. Then life would start. I finally came to understand that those obstacles were life.
That point of view helped me see that there isn’t any road to happiness. Happiness IS the road
So, enjoy every moment.
Stop waiting for school to end, for a return to school, to lose ten pounds, to gain ten pounds, for work to begin, to get married, for Friday evening, for Sunday morning, waiting for a new car, for your mortgage to be paid off, for spring, for summer, for fall, for winter, for the first or the fifteenth of the month, for your song to be played on the radio, to die, to be reborn… before deciding to be happy.
Happiness is a voyage, not a destination.
There is no better time to be happy than…
NOW!
Live and enjoy the moment.
Two Choices
THE RACE
A children's race--- young boys ,young men---How I remember well.
Excitement sure! but also Fear; It wasn't hard to tell.
They all lined up so full of hope. Each thought to win that race.
Or tie for first , or if not first , Atleast take second place.
And fathers watched from off the side, Each cheering for his son.
And each boy hoped to show his dad that he would be the one.
The whistle blew and off they went, Young hearts and hopes afire.
To win and be the hero there was each young boy's desire.
And one boy in particular,Whose dad was in the crowd,Was running near the lead and thought:
"My Dad will be so proud"
But as they sped down the field, across a shallow dip
The little boy who thought to win lost his step and slipped.
Trying hard to catch himself, His hands flew out to brace.
But mid the laughter of the crowd, He fell flat on his face.
So down he fell and with him hope, He couldn't win it now--
Embarassed, sad ,he only wished to disappear somehow.
But as he fell his dad stood up,And showed his anxious face, Which to the boy so clearly said
"Get up and win the race, My boy"
He quickly rose , no damage done, Behind a bit , that's all---
And ran with all his might and mind, To make up for his fall.
So anxious to restore himself, To catch up and to win--
His mind went faster than his legs; He slipped and fell again!
He wished then he had quit before, With only one disgrace.
"I am hopeless as a runner now. I shouldn't try to race"
But in the laughing crowd he searched and found his father's face: That steady look which said again:
" Get up and win the race, My boy"
So up he jumped to try again , Ten yards behind the last
"If I'm to gain those yards" he thought. "I've got to move real fast"
Exerting everything he got , He regained eight or ten.
But trying so hard to catch the lead he slipped and fell again!
Defeat he lay there silently. A Tear dropped from his eye---
"There's no sense trying anymore; Three strikes: I'm out why try?"
The Will to rise had disappeared; All hope had fled away.
So far behind. So error prone. A loser all the way.
"I've lost so what's the use " he thought. "I'll live with my disgrace"
But then he thought about his dad , whom soon he'd have to face
"Get up " an echo sounded low.
"Get up and take your place. You were not meant for failure here. Get up and win the race."
"With borrowed will get up" it said, "You haven't lost at all .For winning is no more than this:
To rise each time you fall"
So up he rose to run once more , And With a new commit.
He resolved that win or lose, Atleast he wouldn't quit.
So far behind the others now, The most he'd ever been--
Still he gave it all he had , And ran as though to win.
Three times he had fallen stumbling. Three times he had rosen again;
Too far behind to hope to win , He still ran to the end.
They cheered the winning runner ,as he crossd the line first place.
Head high , and proud, and happy; No falling ,no disgrace.
But when the fallen youngster crossed the line last place
The crowd gave him the greatest cheer, For finishing the race.
And even though he came in last. with head bowed low, unproud,
You would have thought he'd won the race To listen to the crowd.
And to his dad he sadly said "I didn't do too well".
"To me you won" he said.
"You rose each time you fell".
For all of life is like that race, With ups and downs and all.
And all you have to do to win is
Rise each time you fall.

Why English Is So Fuckin Difficult
but the plural of ox became oxen not oxes.
One fowl is a goose, but two are called geese,
yet the plural of moose should never be meese.
You may find a lone mouse or a nest full of mice;
yet the plural of house is houses, not hice.
If the plural of man is always called men,
why shouldn't the plural of pan be called pen?
If I spoke of my foot and show you my feet,
and I give you a boot, would a pair be called beet?
If one is a tooth and a whole set are teeth,
why shouldn't the plural of booth be called beeth?
Then one may be that, and three would be those,
yet hat in the plural would never be hose,
and the plural of cat is cats, not cose.
We speak of a brother and also of brethren,
but though we say mother we never say methren.
Then the masculine pronouns are he, his and him,
but imagine the feminine, she, shis and shim.
Some reasons to be grateful if you grew up speaking English;
1) The bandage was wound around the wound.
2) The farm was used to produce produce.
3) The dump was so full that it had to refuse more refuse.
4) We must polish the Polish furniture.
5) He could lead if he would get the lead out.
6) The soldier decided to desert his dessert in the desert.
7) There is no time like the present, he said it was time to present the present.
8) At the Army base, a bass was painted on the head of a bass drum.
9) When shot at, the dove dove into the bushes.
10) I did not object to the object.
11) The insurance was invalid for the invalid.
12) There was a row among the oarsmen about how to row.
13) They were too close to the door to close it.
14) The buck does funny things when the does are present.
15) A seamstress and a sewer fell down into a sewer line.
16) To help with planting, the farmer taught his sow to sow.
17) The wind was too strong to wind the sail.
18) After a number of Novocain injections, my jaw got number.
19) Upon seeing the tear in the painting I shed a tear.
20) I had to subject the subject to a series of tests.
21) How can I intimate this to my most intimate friend?
22) I spent last evening evening out a pile of dirt.
Let's face it - English is a crazy language.
There is no egg in eggplant nor ham in hamburger;
neither apple nor pine Inpineapple.
English muffins weren't invented in England .
We take English for granted. But if we explore its paradoxes, we find thatquicksand can work slowly, boxing rings are square and a guinea pig isneither from Guinea nor is it a pig.
And why is it that writers write but fingers don't fing, grocers don't groce and hammers don't ham?
Doesn't it seem crazy that you can make amends but not one amend?
If you have a bunch of odds and ends and get rid of all but one of them, what do you call it?
If teachers taught, why didn't preachers praught?
If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?
In what language do people recite at a play and play at a recital?
Ship by truck and send cargo by ship?
Have noses that run and feet that smell?
How can a slim chance and a fat chance be the same,
while a wise man and a wiseguy are opposites?
You have to marvel at the unique lunacy of a language in which your housecan burn up as it burns down, in which you fill in a form by filling it outand in which an alarm goes off by going on.
If Dad is Pop, how come! Mom isn't Mop?
GO FIGURE! That's American English.
Unlike the GREAT TAMIL english made its own rules of pronounciation & Grammar in a different way based on the words derivated from
example CH is pronounced as ka wen the word is derived from greek
example character = karakter
CH is pronounced as sha wen the word is from french
ex champagne, chateausimilarly with singulars & plurals.
My 'GIRL'
As I sat there in English class, I stared at the girl next to me. She was my so-called "best friend". I stared at her long, silky hair. I wished she were mine, but she didn't notice me likethat. And I knew it. After class she walked up to me and asked me for the notes she had missed the day before, and I handed them to her. She said "thanks" and gave me a kiss on the cheek. I wanted to tell her. I wanted her to know that I don't want to be just a friend. I love her, but I'm just too shy. And I don't know why.
Second Year
The phone rang. It was her on the other end. She was in tears, mumbling on and on about how her love had broke her heart. She asked me to come over because she didn't want to be alone, so I did. As I sat next to her on the sofa, I stared at her soft eyes, wishing she was mine. After 2 hours, a Drew Barrymore movie, and three bags of chips, she decided to go to sleep. She looked at me, said "thanks" and gave me a kiss on the cheek. I want to tell her. I want her to know that I don't want to be just a friend. I love her, but I'm just too shy. And I don't know why.
Third Year
Day before prom she walked to my locker. "My date is sick," she said. He's not going to go. Well, I didn't have a date and back in school we made a promise that if neither of us had dates we would go together just as "best friends," so we did. Prom night after everything was over I was standing at her front door step. I stared at her. She smiled at me and stared at me with her crystal eyes. I want her to be mine, but she doesn't think of me like that, and I know it. Then she said, "I had the best time, thanks!"and gave me a kiss on the cheek. I want to tell her. I want her to know that I don't want to be just a friend. I love her, but I'm just too shy. And I don't know why...
Graduation Day
A day passed. A week passed. A month passed. Before I could blink, it was graduation day. I watched as her perfect body floated likean angel up on stage to get her degree. I wanted her to be mine, but she didn't notice me like that, and I knew it. Before everyone went home, she came to me in her smock and hat, and she cried as I hugged her. Then, she lifted her head from my shoulder and said,"You're my best friend, thanks!" and gave me a kiss on the cheek.I want to tell her. I want her to know that I don't want to be just a friend. I love her, but I'm just too shy. And I don't know why…
A Few Years Later
Now, I sit in the pews of the church. She is getting married, now.I watched her say, "I do" and drive off to her new life, married to another man. I wanted her to be mine but she didn't see me like that, and I knew it. But before she drove away, she came to me and said, "You came!" She said, "thanks!" and kissed me on the cheek.I want to tell her. I want her to know that I don't want to be just a friend. I love her, but I'm just too shy. And I don'tknowwhy...
Funeral
Years passed, and I looked down at the coffin of the girl who usedto be my best friend." At the service they read a diary entry she had wrote in her high school years. This is what it read: I stare at him wishing he were mine. But he doesn't notice me like that, and I know it. I want to tell him. I want him to know that I don't want to be just a friend. I love him, but I'm just too shy, and I don't know why. I wish he would tell me he loved me"…i wish I did too…i thought to myself, and I cried . From that moment my tears have been perennial.

For Ladies
- If you want someone who will bring you the paper without first tearing it apart to remove the sports section. - Buy a dog
- If you want someone willing to make a fool of himself simply over the joy of seeing you. - Buy a dog
- If you want someone who will eat whatever you put in front of him and never says its not quite as good as his mother made it. - Buy a dog
- If you want someone always willing to go out, at any hour, for as long and wherever you want. - Buy a dog
- If you want someone who will never touch the remote, doesn't care about football, and can sit next to you as you watch romantic movies.- Buy a dog
- If you want someone who is content to get up on your bed just to warm your feet and whom you can push off if he snores. - Buy a dog
- If you want someone who never criticizes what you do, doesn't care if you are pretty or ugly, fat or thin, young or old, who acts as if every word you say is especially worthy of listening to, and loves you unconditionally, perpetually. - Buy a dog
- But, on the other hand, If you want someone who will never come when you call, ignores you totally when you come home, leaves hair all over the place, walks all over you, runs around all night and only comes home to eat and sleep, and acts as if your entire existence is solely to ensure his happiness.........Then..........

Woman's Week At The Gym
For my birthday this year, my daughter (the dear) purchased a week of personal training at the local health club for me. Although I am still in great shape since being a high schoolcheerleader 43 years ago, I decided it would be a good idea to go ahead and give it a try. I called the club and made my reservations with a personal trainer named Brad, who identified himself as a 26-year-old aerobics instructor and model for athletic clothing and swim wear. My daughter seemed pleased with my enthusiasm to get started! The club encouraged me to keep a diary to chart my progress.
MONDAY: Started my day at 6:00 a.m. Tough to get out of bed, but found it was well worth it when I arrived at the health club to find Brad waiting for me. He is something of a Greek god - with blond hair, dancing eyes and a dazzling white smile. Woo Hoo!! Brad gave me a tour and showed me the machines. I enjoyed watching the skilful way in which he conducted his aerobics class after my workout today. Very inspiring! Brad was encouraging as I did my sit-ups, although my gut was already aching from holding it in the whole time he was around. This is going tobe a FANTASTIC week
TUESDAY: I drank a whole pot of coffee, but I finally made it out the door. Brad made me lie on my back and push a heavy iron bar into the air then he put weights on it! My legs were a little wobbly on the treadmill, butI made the full mile. Brad's rewarding smile made it all worthwhile. I feel GREAT-!! It's a whole new life for me.
WEDNESDAY: The only way I can brush my teeth is by laying the toothbrush on the counter and moving my mouth back and forth over it. I believe I have ahernia in both pectorals. Driving was OK as long as I didn't try to steer or stop. Brad was impatient with me, insisting that my screams bothered other club members. His voice is a little too perky for early in the morning and when he scolds, he gets this nasally whine that is VERY annoying. My chest hurt when I got on the treadmill, so Brad put me on the stair monster. Why the hell would anyone invent a machine to simulate an activity rendered obsolete by elevators? Brad told me it would help me get in shape and enjoy life. He said some other shit too.
THURSDAY : Brad was waiting for me with his vampire-like teeth exposed as his thin, cruel lips were pulled back in a full snarl. I couldn't help being a half an hour late, it took me that long to tie my shoes. Brad took me to work out with dumbbells. When he was not looking, I ran and hid in the restroom. He sent some skinny bitch to find me. Then, as punishment, he put me on the rowing machine -- which I sank.
FRIDAY : I hate that Brad more than any human being has ever hated any other human being in the history of the world. Brad wanted me to work on my triceps. I don't have any triceps! And if you don't want dents in the floor, don't hand me the damn barbells or anything that weighs more than a sandwich. The treadmill flung me off and I landed on a health and nutrition teacher. Why couldn't it have been someone softer, like the drama coach or the choir director?
SATURDAY : Brad left a message on my answering machine in his grating, shrilly voice wondering why I did not show up today. Just hearing him made me want to smash the machine with my planner. However, I lacked the strength to even use the TV remote and ended up catching eleven straight hours of the Weather Channel.
SUNDAY : I'm having the Church van pick me up for services today so I can go andthank GOD that this week is over. I will also pray that next year mydaughter (the little shit) will choose a gift for me that is fun -- like a root canal or a hysterectomy. I still say if God had wanted me to bend over, he would have sprinkled the floor with diamonds!!!

Dear Son
An aged man's letter to his son,
The day that you see me old and I am already not, have patience and try to understand me
If I get dirty when eating… if I can not dress… have patience. Remember the hours I spent teaching it to you.
If, when I speak to you, I repeat the same things thousand and one times… do not interrupt me… listen to me
When you were small, I had to read to you thousand and one times the same story until you get to sleep…
When I do not want to have a shower, neither shame me nor scold me…
Remember when I had to chase you with thousand excuses I invented, in order that you wanted to bath…
When you see my ignorance on new technologies… give me the necessary time and not look at me with your mocking smile
I taught you how to do so many things… to eat good, to dress well… to confront life…
When at some moment I lose the memory or the thread of our conversation… let me have the necessary time to remember… and if I cannot do it, do not become nervous… as the most important thing is not my conversation but surely to be with you and to have you listening to me…
If ever I do not want to eat, do not force me. I know well when I need to and when not.
When my tired legs do not allow me walk...
give me your hand… the same way I did when you gave your first steps.
And when someday I say to you that I do not want to live any more… that I want to die… do not get angry… some day you will understand..
Try to understand that my age is not lived but survived
Some day you will discover that, despite my mistakes, I always wanted the best thing for you and that I tried to prepare the way for you..
You must not feel sad, angry or impotent for seeing me near you. You must be next to me, try to understand me and to help me as I did it when you started living.
Help me to walk… help me to end my way with love and patience. I will pay you by a smile and by the immense love I have had always for you.
I love you son…
Your father

Online Grievance System - Govt. of India
http://darpg-grievance.nic.in/
The government wants people to use this tool to highlight the problems they faced while dealing with Government officials or departments like Passport Office, Electricity board, BSNL/MTNL, Railways etc etc.
I know many people will say that these things don't work in India, but this actually works as one guy working in CSC found. The guy I'm talking about lives in Faridabad. Couple of months back, the Faridabad Municipal Corporation laid new roads in his area and the residents were very happy about it. But 2 weeks later, BSNL dugged up the newly laid roads to install new cables which annoyed all the residents including this guy. But it was only this guy who used the above listed grievance forum to highlight his concern. And to his surprise, BSNL and Municipal Corporation of faridabad was served a show cause notice and the guy received a copy of the notice in one week. Government has asked the MC and BSNL about the goof up as its clear that both the government departments were not in sync at all. So use this grievance forum and educate others who don't know about this facility. This way we can at least raise our concerns instead of just talking about the 'System' in India.

Second Thoughts
A young man, a student in one of the universities, was one day taking a walk with a professor, who was commonly called the student's friend for his kindness to those who waited on his instructions.
As they went along, they saw lying in the path a pair of old shoes, which were supposed to belong to a poor man who was working in a field close by, and who had nearly finished his day's work…
The student turned to the professor, saying: "Let us play the man a trick: we will hide his shoes, and hide ourselves behind those bushes, and wait to see his perplexity when he cannot find them…"
“My young friend," answered the professor, "we should never amuse ourselves at the expense of the poor… But you are rich, and may give yourself a muchgreater pleasure by means of this poor man. Put a coin in each shoe, and then we will hide ourselves and watch how this affects him."
The student did so and they both placed themselves behind the bushes close by. The poor man soon finished his work, and came across the field to the path where he had left his coat and shoes…
While putting on his coat he slipped his foot into one of his shoes, but feeling something hard, he stooped down to feel what it was, and found the coin. Astonishment and wonder were seen upon his countenance. He gazed upon the coin, turned it around, and looked at it again and again.
He then looked around him on all sides, but no person was to be seen. He now put the money into his pocket, and proceeded to put on the other shoe; but his surprise was doubled on finding the other coin…
His feelings overcame him… he fell upon his knees, looked up to heaven and uttered aloud a fervent thanksgiving in which he spoke of his wife, sick and helpless, and his children without bread, whom this timely bounty, from some unknown hand, would save from perishing…
The student stood there deeply affected, and his eyes filled with tears. "Now," said the professor, are you not much better pleased than if you had played your intended trick?"
The youth replied, "You have taught me a lesson which I will never forget… I feel now the truth of these words, which I never understood before: "It's more blessed to give than to receive."
If you want happiness….
For an hour--- take a nap
For a day--- go fishing
For a month----get married
For a year---inherit a fortune
For many years---love someone
For a lifetime---help someone…
