Back Home!!! I love caricatures and I feel they depict the 'real funny side' of you..atleast thats what caricaturist claim...When I had been to Italy I tried my hand out at gettin myself caricatured!!!..I was so excited and since I paid a hefty 20 euros, I righteoulsy expected it to be quite like me!!When I have too much expectations about a stuff, it always end in a great mishap and so did this!!!......after a gruelling 10 min 'statue pose',least i expected was to see the pic and not to have the slightest inkling that it was me....adding fuel to the fire, the caricaturist next to him was charging only 10 euros for the same job...grrrrrrrrr!!!If I take this home, I have to undergo the ignominy of explaining it to everyone that its 'me'...I am thinking of framing it labeled with my name....to avoid anyone speculating coz someone with great creativity might say it looks like step sister of cindrella!!well its ok ..coz once before when i went to windsor castle(official residence of queen elizabeth II) I dressed like a princess and took a pic and gave my mom.....she proudly giggled that I had a aristrocratic look..so two sides of same coin!!!'Objects in the mirror are very different from what you want them to appear'...

Slow Poison

I am getting increasingly annoyed at the reality shows broadcasted and the controversies they raise.Either a set of people are held in a house for three weeks without any communication to outside world or sent to live in remote Island and filmed.There is a whirlpool of controversies surrounding each of this programme and morning newspapers craving for the headlines.I dont understand what fun people get in watching such shows.Neither it is informative nor interesting.Its sheer bullying,biting the back, unneccesary arguments and raising the row of sensitive topics like racism,ethinicity and cultures.Its very obvious that when 15 -20 people from different situations and different backgrounds meet there will be difference of opinions, likes and dislikes, grouping and clashes.Some funny people truly follow all the episodes and there is a awful lot of other programmes associated with it like psycologial ananlyzes of minds inside the house, best of the bits and other junks.I used to feel the same for soaps back home, hour after hour of continous glycerine glory aimed at kindling emotions as though they were intended to empower women,but it was all crap and you can predict the plot of the story well before uptp 3-6months or somtimes the entire serial.To my horror I find here some daily soaps have been there for more than 8-10 years , one of the few things that unite two generations who have otherwise grown a lot apart.I feel movies are much better coz, even if its worse you just waste maximum of three hours.Are we running short of ideas here or the media want us to become dumb heads rather than eggheads???

No,its not about 'Every Action has an equal and opposite reaction'.It is about ,'Should every action neccesarily have an equal and opposite reaction'?Under the laws of science, newton might be true but under the laws of humanity he need not be.Actions may/may not be controlled, but definitely reactions can be.It would be too saintly to stay calm when someone dear to me suffers from heartattack,atleast my reaction need not create another one for them.What if my best friend forgot to wish on my brithday? I can choose not to get disappointed, instead tell her ways of remembering it.What if my brother breaks my favorite glass sovenier from france, I need not yell at him at top of my voice,if not able to wear a smile for his act.What if my collegue misplaces the imp document of mine?though I might be really irritated, i could just say ' it happens'.We face so many actions each day, it really is the reaction we choose that makes or breaks the day.I say to myself everytime when i am in such situation,the reaction need not be positive or good always but it need not hurt or damage (us/anyone) either.

When you are single and 4500 miles from home, parents, friends and relatives you really need a a big hook to pull you away from monster of boredom, esp during weekends.Atleast I needed:)After three trips around europe and not missing a tourist attraction in UK ,I was not able to save my soul cribbing from solitude. Oh! Otherwise my usual site would be broad roads with trees and greenary everywhere, just one or two humans walking their dogs.Now being a regular chruch goer,I have got a different perception of life, seeing world as my extended family and praying for someone whom I havent met .I have made some real good freinds too, just that they are 40 or 45 years elder to me:):)...well its a diffrent kinda experience and I seem to enjoy it.After a year here, when I told my friends that I might be leaving this place for good ,everyone felt bad and One was quick to give me some grandmotherly advice.She told me that the only one thing which will come along with me wherever I go is 'Whatever I grow inside myself' .She was more quicker to ask ' what I grow in me'??I was smart enough to evade answering telling 'that seems to be a million dollar question' to me ,but the truth is I didnt know the answer.Then she told me 'whatever it is, never grow bitterness or sorrow'.
I felt that sometimes its the most easiet questions that we dont know the answer for!!Atleast I wish these words keep ringing in my mind forever!!!

Two Choices

Jerry is the manager of a restaurant. He is always in a good mood. He left the back door of his restaurant open In the morning, he was robbed by three armed men. After 18 hours of surgery and weeks of intensive care, Jerry was released from the hospital with fragments of the bullets still in his body. "Weren't you scared“ he was asked? Jerry said, "The paramedics were great. They kept telling me I was going to be fine. But when they wheeled me into the Emergency Room and I saw the expression on the faces of the doctors and nurses, I got really scared.In their eyes, I read 'He's a dead man.' I knew I needed to take action.""What did you do?" they asked. "Well, there was a big nurse shouting questions at me," said Jerry. "She asked if I was allergic to anything." 'Yes,' I replied. The doctors and nurses stopped working as they waited for my reply. I took a deep breath and yelled, 'Bullets!' Over their laughter, I told them,'I am choosing to live. Please operate on me as if I am alive, not dead'." Jerry lived thanks to the skill of his doctors, but also because of his amazing attitude. I learned from him that every day you have the choice to either enjoy your life or to hate it. The only thing that is truly yours -- that no one can control or take from you-is your attitude, so if you can take care of that, everything else in life becomes much easier.

THE RACE

A children's race--- young boys ,young men---How I remember well.

Excitement sure! but also Fear; It wasn't hard to tell.

They all lined up so full of hope. Each thought to win that race.

Or tie for first , or if not first , Atleast take second place.

And fathers watched from off the side, Each cheering for his son.

And each boy hoped to show his dad that he would be the one.

The whistle blew and off they went, Young hearts and hopes afire.

To win and be the hero there was each young boy's desire.

And one boy in particular,Whose dad was in the crowd,Was running near the lead and thought:

"My Dad will be so proud"

But as they sped down the field, across a shallow dip

The little boy who thought to win lost his step and slipped.

Trying hard to catch himself, His hands flew out to brace.

But mid the laughter of the crowd, He fell flat on his face.

So down he fell and with him hope, He couldn't win it now--

Embarassed, sad ,he only wished to disappear somehow.

But as he fell his dad stood up,And showed his anxious face, Which to the boy so clearly said

"Get up and win the race, My boy"

He quickly rose , no damage done, Behind a bit , that's all---

And ran with all his might and mind, To make up for his fall.

So anxious to restore himself, To catch up and to win--

His mind went faster than his legs; He slipped and fell again!

He wished then he had quit before, With only one disgrace.

"I am hopeless as a runner now. I shouldn't try to race"

But in the laughing crowd he searched and found his father's face: That steady look which said again:

" Get up and win the race, My boy"

So up he jumped to try again , Ten yards behind the last

"If I'm to gain those yards" he thought. "I've got to move real fast"

Exerting everything he got , He regained eight or ten.

But trying so hard to catch the lead he slipped and fell again!

Defeat he lay there silently. A Tear dropped from his eye---

"There's no sense trying anymore; Three strikes: I'm out why try?"

The Will to rise had disappeared; All hope had fled away.

So far behind. So error prone. A loser all the way.

"I've lost so what's the use " he thought. "I'll live with my disgrace"

But then he thought about his dad , whom soon he'd have to face

"Get up " an echo sounded low.

"Get up and take your place. You were not meant for failure here. Get up and win the race."

"With borrowed will get up" it said, "You haven't lost at all .For winning is no more than this:

To rise each time you fall"

So up he rose to run once more , And With a new commit.

He resolved that win or lose, Atleast he wouldn't quit.

So far behind the others now, The most he'd ever been--

Still he gave it all he had , And ran as though to win.

Three times he had fallen stumbling. Three times he had rosen again;

Too far behind to hope to win , He still ran to the end.

They cheered the winning runner ,as he crossd the line first place.

Head high , and proud, and happy; No falling ,no disgrace.

But when the fallen youngster crossed the line last place

The crowd gave him the greatest cheer, For finishing the race.

And even though he came in last. with head bowed low, unproud,

You would have thought he'd won the race To listen to the crowd.

And to his dad he sadly said "I didn't do too well".

"To me you won" he said.

"You rose each time you fell".

For all of life is like that race, With ups and downs and all.

And all you have to do to win is

Rise each time you fall.

Why English Is So Fuckin Difficult

Well let's begin with a box, and the plural is boxes;
but the plural of ox became oxen not oxes.
One fowl is a goose, but two are called geese,
yet the plural of moose should never be meese.
You may find a lone mouse or a nest full of mice;
yet the plural of house is houses, not hice.
If the plural of man is always called men,
why shouldn't the plural of pan be called pen?
If I spoke of my foot and show you my feet,
and I give you a boot, would a pair be called beet?
If one is a tooth and a whole set are teeth,
why shouldn't the plural of booth be called beeth?
Then one may be that, and three would be those,
yet hat in the plural would never be hose,
and the plural of cat is cats, not cose.
We speak of a brother and also of brethren,
but though we say mother we never say methren.
Then the masculine pronouns are he, his and him,
but imagine the feminine, she, shis and shim.

while a wise man and a wiseguy are opposites?
You have to marvel at the unique lunacy of a language in which your housecan burn up as it burns down, in which you fill in a form by filling it outand in which an alarm goes off by going on.

My 'GIRL'

First Year
As I sat there in English class, I stared at the girl next to me. She was my so-called "best friend". I stared at her long, silky hair. I wished she were mine, but she didn't notice me likethat.And I knew it. After class she walked up to me and asked me for the notes she had missed the day before, and I handed them to her. Second Year
The phone rang. It was her on the other end. She was in tears, mumbling on and on about how her love had broke her heart. She asked me to come over because she didn't want to be alone, so I did. Third Year
Day before prom she walked to my locker. "My date is sick," she said. He's not going to go. Well, I didn't have a date and back in school we made a promise that if neither of us had dates we would go together just as "best friends," so we did. Prom night after everything was over I was standing at her front door step. I stared at her. She smiled at me and stared at me with her crystal eyes. I want her to be mine, but she doesn't think of me like that, and I know it. Then she said, "I had the best time, thanks!"and gave me a kiss on the cheek. I want to tell her. I want her to know that I don't want to be just a friend. I love her, but I'm just too shy. And I don't know why...
Graduation Day
A day passed. A week passed. A month passed. Before I could blink, it was graduation day. I watched as her perfect body floated likean angel up on stage to get her degree. I wanted her to be mine,but she didn't notice me like that, and I knew it. Before everyone went home, she came to me in her smock and hat, and she cried as I hugged her. A Few Years Later
Now, I sit in the pews of the church. She is getting married, now.I watched her say, "I do" and drive off to her new life, married to another man. Funeral
Years passed, and I looked down at the coffin of the girl who usedto be my best friend." At the service they read a diary entry she had wrote in her high school years. This is what it read: I stare at him wishing he were mine. But he doesn't notice me like that, and I know it. I want to tell him. I want him to know that I don't want to be just a friend. I love him, but I'm just too shy, and I don't know why. I wish he would tell me he loved me"…i wish I did too…i thought to myself, and I cried . From that moment my tears have been perennial.

Woman's Week At The Gym

Dear Diary,
For my birthday this year, my daughter (the dear) purchased a week of personal training at the local health club for me. Although I am still in great shape since being a high schoolcheerleader 43 years ago, I decided it would be a good idea to go ahead and give it a try. I called the club and made my reservations with a personal trainer named Brad, who identified himself as a 26-year-old aerobics instructor and model for athletic clothing and swim wear. My daughter seemed pleased with my enthusiasm to get started! The club encouraged me to keep a diary to chart my progress.
MONDAY: Started my day at 6:00 a.m. Tough to get out of bed, but found it was well worth it when I arrived at the health club to find Brad waiting for me. He is something of a Greek god - with blond hair, dancing eyes and a dazzling white smile. Woo Hoo!! Brad gave me a tour and showed me the machines. I enjoyed watching the skilful way in which he conducted his aerobics class after my workout today. Very inspiring! Brad was encouraging as I did my sit-ups, although my gut was already aching from holding it in the whole time he was around. This is going tobe a FANTASTIC week
TUESDAY: I drank a whole pot of coffee, but I finally made it out the door. Brad made me lie on my back and push a heavy iron bar into the air then he put weights on it! My legs were a little wobbly on the treadmill, butI made the full mile. Brad's rewarding smile made it all worthwhile. I feel GREAT-!! It's a whole new life for me.
WEDNESDAY: The only way I can brush my teeth is by laying the toothbrush on the counter and moving my mouth back and forth over it. I believe I have ahernia in both pectorals. Driving was OK as long as I didn't try to steer or stop. Brad was impatient with me, insisting that my screams bothered other club members. His voice is a little too perky for early in the morning and when he scolds, he gets this nasally whine that is VERY annoying. My chest hurt when I got on the treadmill, so Brad put me on the stair monster. Why the hell would anyone invent a machine to simulate an activity rendered obsolete by elevators? Brad told me it would help me get in shape and enjoy life. He said some other shit too.
THURSDAY : Brad was waiting for me with his vampire-like teeth exposed as his thin,cruel lips were pulled back in a full snarl. I couldn't help being a half an hour late, it took me that long to tie my shoes. Brad took me to work out with dumbbells. When he was not looking, I ran and hid in the restroom. He sent some skinny bitch to find me. Then, as punishment, he put me on the rowing machine -- which I sank.
FRIDAY : I hate that Brad more than any human being has ever hated any other human being in the history of the world. Brad wanted me to work on my triceps. I don't have any triceps! And if you don't want dents in the floor, don't hand me the damn barbells or anything that weighs more than a sandwich. The treadmill flung me off and I landed on a health and nutrition teacher. Why couldn't it have been someone softer, like the drama coach or the choir director?
SATURDAY : Brad left a message on my answering machine in his grating, shrilly voice wondering why I did not show up today. Just hearing him made me want to smash the machine with my planner. However, I lacked the strength to even use the TV remote and ended up catching eleven straight hours of the Weather Channel.
SUNDAY : I'm having the Church van pick me up for services today so I can go andthank GOD that this week is over. I will also pray that next year mydaughter (the little shit) will choose a gift for me that is fun -- like a root canal or a hysterectomy. I still say if God had wanted me to bend over, he would have sprinkled the floor with diamonds!!!
